Description
With the Humax iHDR-5200C digital decoder, you won't only enjoy razor-sharp HD images, you can also get rid of that old-fashioned TV guide, because the Human iHDR-5200C has an electronic TV guide. The integrated 500GB hard drive completes the iHDR-5200C. This decoder is also suitable for interactive TV, although you have to be connected to a home network. With the iHDR-5200C, you can also watch movies and series that have been stored as Xvid, MPEG 2 TS, and MPEG4 TS. The 5200C can also be used as a media player, because you can easily incorporate this decoder into your home network. You do need a smart card in order to use the Humax iHDR-5200C. The iHDR-5200C supports the following providers: Ziggo, Caiway, Delta, Kabel Noord, and Zeelandnet.
Note: check the Ziggo website to find out whether you can use this module in your area.
Note: you can't order separate Ci+ cards from Ziggo anymore. This is only possible in combination with a module or decoder. This means this module is only suitable for replacing an existing module or decoder, when you already own a Ci+ card.

After nothing but trouble with a Ziggo Cisco 8455 DVB (daily crashes, problems with audio via HDMI, high consumption, even in standby) bought this Humax on the recommendation of friends. Rightly so. The device works fine and does what it's supposed to do. A big plus is the large hard disk and the possibility to record two programs at the same time.The installation went by itself. If you had to enter all kinds of codes at the Cisco, the Humax did this all automatically.The 5200C is also in the database of the Logitech Harmony One, changing this universal remote was also a snap.In short, a breath of fresh air!

The Humax iHDR-5200C works fine as a decoder. It is a beautifully designed device that does not heat up in standby. The possibilities as a media player are rather limited. What he can do, he does excellently, but he can't display a *.mkv file, for example. It is better to purchase a separate media player, so that the Humax can remain on standby during media use, which is also better for the environment. You can then only use the Humax media player for interactive TV and playback of your own PVR recordings.
